About Bees and the Bare Bones
“Honey-coated harmonies and desert-sunset guitars…” (Georgia Straight, July 2017)
Bees and the Bare Bones is the upbeat, girl-next-door duo, comprised of Madison Olds and Abby Wale; two opposite, yet complimentary forces. Together, they blur the lines of genre, their music connecting with fans of indie, folk, and pop. Dazzling audiences with their engaging live performances, you can expect angst-y, relatable, tongue-in-cheek banter and genuine, charismatic personality.
“These girls are absolutely incredible… their voices will bring tears to your eyes.” (Visitor post, Facebook)
Surprisingly, one month after joining forces, in July 2016, the band made their musical debut at the Big Valley Jamboree. As the national 2016 Chevy Tailgate winners, they went to Nashville where they recorded their first single, FOOL, which aired on CMT shortly after. In summer 2017, a career highlight was opening the mainstage for Kacey Musgraves and Willie Nelson at Rockin’ River Fest. These performances allowed the duo to connect with a multitude of fans from folk, to pop, to alt-country, setting them on a trajectory of rising success.
As singer/songwriters, they return to Nashville often to write with some of the world’s most talented writers; a dream come true. Inspired by Ed Sheeran, Chainsmokers, and Alessia Cara, Bees and the Bare Bones have fully embraced storytelling through their love of pop music for their upcoming album. Textured, layered, energetic and bright; these vibrant musicians weave stories of relationships, victory and pain.
For Madison and Abby, the journey has been swift, humbling and awe inspiring. “We put what we go through down on paper and sing about our experiences, hoping the crowd can connect to it and say ‘I’ve totally been there’” the singers reflect. “When we’re performing, we want (the audience) to laugh and lose themselves for a while.”
Despite a busy schedule of writing, recording and performing, these bandmates make time for charitable events and community initiatives, including fundraising for the BC Wildhearts, Habit for Humanity, the SPCA, Big Brothers and Sisters and more. They have even been known to sing an anthem or two in support of local sports.
Maddie and Abby invite you to connect and introduce yourself on all of their socials, @beesandthebarebones. The emerging success of the last year keeps them anxiously anticipating what the next year has in store and they are grateful it includes their awesome fans.
